Thame Museum opened in 2007 and is housed in the former Magistrates Court House, built in 1861. Thame Museum shows the rich history of Thame, which dates back over 6000 years. Our galleries show how people lived in Saxon and Roman times, in the time of John Hampden through the Civil Wars to the modern day. The Elizabethan Wall Paintings Interactive Experience is a 'must-see'! Over 400 years old and found in a Thame house owned by an Elizabethan merchant, the original wall paintings have now been set in a reimagined room complete with the merchant, his family and furniture. We have a programme of monthly talks by renowned authors and historians and have pop-up exhibitions showcasing a wide range of exciting topics. We also have family trails, interactive activities, school holiday events, arts award courses, dressing up costumes and storytime for pre-school children.
